If you have one and you are thinking to root Samsung J7 2016 then you are at right place. As like other Samsung device rooting Samsung device is same. We need Odin and all those blah blah.  So here I am going to tell you how to root Samsung Galaxy J7 2016.

How To Root Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 Edition SM-J710F/GN

Note: This method works on Samsung Galaxy J7 SM-J710F/GN models only. Make a backup of all files including APK, contacts, SMS etc. As the root process will format your device.

A. Download tools

1. Odin3_v3.11.1 (Unzip it)

2. Samsung Kies

3. twrp-3.0.2-0-j7xelte.tar (Size 17.587MB, Don’t Extract it)

4. UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip (Don’t Unzip it)

B. Enable Developer Option

  1. Go to Settings>>About Phone>>
  2. Then tap ‘Build number’ 7 times or until you get the message ‘You’re now a developer!’
  3. Go back to Settings, choose ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘USB debugging’ option and enable it.
  4. In the ‘Developer Option’ you will also find the ‘OEM Unlocking’ option, just enable it.
  5. Make sure you don’t have Factory Reset Protection enabled in your Google account or you may never be able to boot again!

C. Install Samsung Kies or Driver

Install the Samsung Kies and restart your PC, then connect your Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 with USB cable. It will configure driver automatically.

D. Install TWRP Recovery and  root On Samsung Galaxy J7 2016

  1. Run as Administrator the Odin3.exe file
  2. Click on Option and disable Auto Rebootscreenshot-54
  3. Now click on AP and browse twrp-3.0.2-0-j7xelte.tar like thisscreenshot-53
  4. Now switch on your Samsung Galaxy J7
  5. Then Press and hold the Power + Volume Down + Home button simultaneously until its screen off and boot into a blue screen showing WarningScreenshot (31)
  6. Now press Volume UP button to Continue…It will show like thisScreenshot (34)
  7. Now connect your Phone to PC via USB Cable
  8. You will see that first box under ID:COM in odin is shaded mean driver properly installedScreenshot (35)
  9. Now click on the Start button on Odin
  10. It will few seconds, once its done, you will see green Pass like thisScreenshot (38)
  11. Once the flash done, you can pull the battery then place the battery back in.
  12. Now hold [Volume Up] + [Home] + [Power] buttons until you reach TWRP recovery mode. If you end up in stock recovery, start again from step 1
  13. Now it will ask for allowing modification, just swipe to allow otherwise the OS will replace TWRP once you boot!
  14. Now go to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Format Data -> yes (you need to type yes)
  15. For safety make a backup of current ROM ( Google it if you have no idea)
  16. Now tap on [Reboot] and select [Recovery]
  17. It will reboot to TWRP Recovery
  18. Now connect your phone to PC and transfer the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip to phone
  19. Now tap on Install and browse the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip file
  20. Once you find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip file just tap on it
  21. Now swipe to confirm flash
  22. Once the flashing process done, you will get successful message
  23. Now  [Reboot] -> [System]
  24. Your Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 has been rooted.
