Cyber security gets tighter after the leak of ex NSA agent Snowden. Whatever you do on internet like to chat, mail, music or video call, etcare tracked by some Govt. and spy agency. NSA is one of them, and tries to get all the information about us beyond our knowledge. Normally everything in internet works with encryption. Like HTTPS is a secure encrypted gateway. That protects our valuable information from hacker in the way from host to server vice versa. So on every online payment page you will notice that it is HTTPS.
But is this security system enough? Where NSA like big agency are sitting there and decrypting the cypher text easily. Security researchers are doing more hard to make the high security algorithm. Still now its best to use end-to-end encryption. And Google officially announced about end-to-end encryption support for Gmail via Google Chrome Extension. In a blog post Stephan Somogyi, Product Manager, Security and Privacy of Google said that they are adding an alpha tool a Google Chrome Extension name end-to-end to provide end-to-end encryption support in Gmail. In other word if you need extra security beyond the security Google is providing now then try this.
End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a digital communications paradigm of uninterrupted protection of data traveling between two communicating parties. It involves the originating party encrypting data to be readable only by the intended recipient, and the receiving party decrypting it, with no involvement in said encryption by third parties. The intention of end-to-end encryption is to prevent intermediaries, such as Internet providers or application service providers, from being able to discover or tamper with the content of communications. End-to-end encryption generally includes protections of both confidentiality and integrity.
Mean in simple words end-to-end encryption security is an encryption system where data are highly encrypted from one end to another end. So When send a mail to your friend or family the data will be encrypted till its not reach receiver mean your friend or family.
Though there are some tools like PGP and GnuPG which helps you send gmail with end to end encryption, but using this tool is not too much handy. That’s why Google offering this end-to-end Google Chrome extension to use it more easier.
But there is a bad news that still now its not available in Google Chrome Store for public use. So you have to wait a few more days. When it will be available I will sure let you know. So stay tuned !
